Join us throughout the month of October for a knit-along of this beautiful scarf -- currently one of the most popular patterns on Ravelry!

Using just 400 yards of Worsted Weight yarn and a larger needle (US #10), it will be quick to finish so you can start wearing it on fall evenings. The shop display has been made out of Kraemer Perfection, a perfect selection for holiday gift giving. It's very soft, machine washable, and the yarn cost is only $11.90 for the entire project.

The knit-along group will meet informally on Saturday afternoons in October (approximately 12 -2 pm -- starting October 2nd). Come to see how everyone is progressing, get help or tips, or just have some knitting time.

Did you miss the first meetings? Not a problem! Grab your yarn and start now.

Request to join the knit-along when you purchase your Saroyan yarn.

Knit-along members that purchase yarn and successfully complete their scarf within the month will receive a special prize.

Thursday Open Knit (and Crochet!) Night - 6 to 8 PM

Our Thursday evening open knit night has resumed for the fall.

Evelyn, a very friendly area knitter, has offered to run the Thursday evening group and welcomes anyone that wants to attend.

Join her every Thursday from 6 - 8 PM with your current project. This is an informal group with a chance to chat, enjoy each other's creativity, and just have a fun evening out of the house. Group members are available to help with small problem troubleshooting -- but don't worry about having to keep up with lessons or instruction.

Bring your project, a coffee or snack, and show off your work in a relaxed atmosphere.

There is no charge to attend this group. Knitters, crocheters, or other crafters of all skill levels are welcome to attend.

Weaving With Sock Yarns

Lana Grossa Meilenweit Rainbow #406
Are you enticed by the wide variety of sock yarns now available, hoping for some way to wear them besides on your feet, but daunted by sweater projects that require skein after skein of hand painted sock yarn?

With the affordable and approachable Cricket Loom you can weave great scarves with less yardage than an average adult pair of socks. The scarf shown to the left used 2/3 of one skein Lana Grossa Meilenweit Rainbow.

Different warp and weft options can display hand paints in whole new ways. In this example a long striping sock yarn was put in both warp and weft. This creates small lengthwise stripes with larger sections of colors going the other way that bleed into each other like brush strokes.

A woven scarf has great drape and will keep you warm without added bulk around your neck -- and is perfectly reversible!

We offer ongoing "Introduction To Weaving" classes designed to get you started with a Rigid Heddle Loom. As you get familiar with the loom you will find basic scarves like the one shown above can be completed in record time -- making them perfect holiday gifts.

Schacht Cricket Looms are in stock and ready for you to enjoy.

Email, call (401-762-0671), or visit us today to schedule your first lesson.

KA Switch - Interchangeable Bamboo Knitting Needles

My new fall merchandise is starting to arrive. One new arrival that's sure to be popular for both gift giving and gift making is the KA Bamboo Interchangeable Set.

The KA Exchangeable "SWITCH" Needle set is the best bamboo interchangeable set we have ever used.

With 10 tips (sizes US 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10.5, 11, 13, 15) and 8 cords (options from 16" to 53" depending on tip size) you will have every needle size your projects may require.

The included cables will make the following combinations:
  • US 5-8: 16", 23.5" 29"
  • US 9-10.5: 16", 23.5", 29", 36", 51"
  • US 11-15: 18" 25.5", 31", 38", 53"
Unique to KA is the interlocking brass join. The machined brass parts on the needle and cable screw together and create a very smooth tapered join -- no snags! Combine this with their high quality aged satin-finish bamboo, and they are truly a pleasure to work with.

Fabric Option: Dragon Fly (Red)

Available in-store now or buy KA Switch Interchangeable Bamboo Needles online.

New Yarns - GGH Tara, Lana Grossa Meilenweit Rainbow

I've just unpacked some new yarns from GGH and Lana Grossa.

Tara is a machine washable wool-alternative. This cotton blend is designed to be light and airy -- not dense and heavy like a normal heavy worsted weight cotton.

It's suitable for all seasons and ages, and easily substituted into your favorite patterns.

See GGH Tara Online or feel it in the shop.

Lana Grossa Meilenweit Rainbow is a new sock yarn that I am very excited about.

The long color repeats are beautiful and fun to work with.

It has a very generous yardage (462 yards) and will easily make a large adult pair of socks.

See Meilenweit Rainbow Online or stop by the shop today.

I've also unpacked a fantastic selection of Filati, Filati Infanti, Filati Accessories, and Feltro magazines. If you haven't seen these before, they all feature a extremely high number of beautiful designs, gorgeous photography, and generous variety -- yet maintain a rock bottom price.

They are an absolute value and sure to entice your interest in the Lana Grossa family of yarns.

I have not uploaded these magazines to the online store yet, but please stop by and browse them in the shop.

I need to get back to knitting samples, have a great weekend!

$14 per 100 grams

This color is called Lollipop Shoes. I will be ordering the remaining colors shortly. You can view fiber colors on Majacraft's website.

Perendale is a New Zealand breed that has its origins in a cross between Cheviot and Romney. It's soft and easy to spin.

Let me know if you would like a particular color and quantity and I'll be sure to order enough.

Schacht Cricket Looms - Back In Stock

The very popular Schacht Cricket loom is back in stock as of this evening.

The remainder of this current shipment is available at the old price of $135. Starting with our next shipment, the price will be $140 to reflect Schacht's February price increase.

As always I include a free introductory rigid heddle weaving lesson with the purchase of the loom.

If you think you might be interested in weaving, the Cricket is affordable and easy to use. It's great to start out on, but it remains useful for small portable projects even if you progress further into more challenging weaving projects/looms.

Lana Grossa / GGH / New Aslan Colors - Coming Soon!

My sales rep just left with my order sheets for some nice spring additions from two companies that are new to my store, as well as some new offerings from our recent addition - Aslan Trends.

One standout from GGH is Tara. A cotton and microfiber blend that's billed as "cotton with the feel of cashmere". Not only is it light and soft -- it's machine washable. My opening order is for 17 colors, so there's bound to be at least several you love. It works up on 8-9 needles, but because of the microfiber you can have a cotton sweater that doesn't weigh a ton.

View GGH's Tara Page.

Some new sock yarns are coming, as well as some VERY VERY exciting pattern books!

I'll be posting updates with the new items while I wait for it to arrive!
